Promises

As anyone living in Atlanta knows, due to Georgia's current drought... everything is dying! We have had no rain, our yard is extremely dry and the grass is turning brown very quickly. In fact, if the truth be told, our yard was already looking bad, but after all the kids being here last week for Back Yard Bible Club, by the end of the week the yard was pitiful. Being an outside deal, the grass took a beating! The brown section in the front grew a little more each day as we were playing games, so by the end of the week it was a very large brown section. The back yard was trampled from where we had sat on blankets while listening to the lesson for that day. Let's just say that by Thursday after the club meeting, we were asking God to send the rain - please! We needed to do something fast, or it was going to be too late.

Sure enough, Thursday night we got a strong shower and it rained hard for about 45 minutes. Then Friday afternoon, a storm came in during BYBC, so we had to move inside for the bible lesson and craft that day. God continued to answer our prayers as scattered showers kept coming throughout the weekend. And would you believe that the yard has fully recovered and then some? It looks great. Green and lush. All the brown is almost even gone in the front. It is amazing what a little water can do. Actually, it is amazing what God can do.

For those who live in the Atlanta area, do you remember how strange the sky looked Sunday night? It was the weirdest color, the sky almost looking yellow, with a fireball red showing where the sun was going down. It was both dark and bright out at the same time. I have a hard time even trying to explain it now. It was very eerie and strange, enough that I kept going outside and looking up, amazed at how it was unlike any color I had ever seen. And that is when I saw it...

It was the brightest and most beautiful rainbow that I have ever seen. I quickly called Marshall and the kids, and we all went outside to marvel at God's miracles. I know that these pictures don't do it justice at all, but it at least shows that it was there. I have seen a few rainbows in my lifetime, but the colors in this rainbow were the brightest and most distinct I have ever seen. You could see every color clearly. It was just awesome. So to end a marvelous week, God sealed it with a rainbow and said yet again -- TRUST ME! I promise to take care of you if you follow me--

Back Yard Bible Club

This past week at the Presley home we have been buisy hosting a Back Yard Bible Club! Instead of having Vacation Bible School, the church we attend (Grace Fellowship) has something called Back Yard Bible Clubs. It is a really cool thing where the basic idea is to take the good news of Jesus into the neighborhoods, particularly trying to reach those who might not have heard it before.
This year we (and almost 39 other families) decided to host a Back Yard Bible Club at our house, and (praise be to God!) it was a huge success! We had a great group of kids all week, with our largest day being 24 kids! The children would be here everyday for 1 and 1/2 hours, and during that time we would...

play games...

hear a Bible lesson...

make a craft, have a snack, and then play some fun water games...

We even played with SLIME on the last day for games. The kids who came loved it, and so did we. I know that for some of those children the hope of Jesus Christ was just what they needed to hear. A good time was had by all, and God was definately at work in the hearts of these kids this week.
And we also had some incredible helpers from church. Without them, things would have been really crazy. These middle school girls have a passion for God, and were such a huge help!

Here I am!

So, obviously I am not so quick on this blog stuff, seeing as how over the last week we have celebrated both Marshall's birthday and Father's Day, and I am just now getting around to writing about it!

Happy Birthday to my best friend and companion Marshall! He celebrated his 30 something birthday last Friday the 13th. We had fun with friends, nothing too big since he is getting "older" now ;)

We also celebrated a special Father's Day, honoring both Marshall and my dad. I am so blessed to have such awesome father's in my life, both my father and the father of my children.
My dad has always been such a man of integrity and faith. He is an incredible role model for Marshall too! Dad has always been loving and encouraging and supportive of me unconditionally.
Marshall is such an amazing father also! He loves our children like to one else can. He works so hard to provide for us, still goes to school, and always makes sure to have time for the kids on top of everything else. He has sacrificed so much for our family. There is nothing like the warm welcome he gets from the kids when he gets home at the end of the day. To see their faces light up at the sight of him brings me unspeakable joy everyday. I am so very grateful for Marshall.

Here it goes...

As some of you already know, and some of you don't, I have been wanting to start a blog for quite some time, but for some reason I never did it. Well, I am finally doing it! Welcome to the Presley Family Journal. I hope that you enjoy what you read here, and that it provides a better way for me to keep family and friends informed about what goes on around here. So here it goes...
